About The Position

Weston & Sampson is seeking a Civil Engineer with 0 to 4 years of experience to join our Environmental, Geotechnical, and Energy team in our Reading, MA office. The ideal candidate will have experience in the evaluation, design, and construction of land development associated with renewable energy projects in the northeastern United States. This role involves assisting project managers with permitting applications, design plans, and specifications. You will also visit job sites for field inspections, SWPPP inspections, surveying, and construction observation. Office work includes engineering design, CAD drafting support, stormwater analysis, and preparation of permitting applications. The position requires working on a variety of civil engineering projects, with a primary emphasis on civil land development for renewable energy projects. Willingness to travel as required is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering
  • Strong AutoCAD Civil 3D drafting and design skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • A positive attitude and willingness to continue learning as new tasks are assigned and new projects are undertake
  • Valid driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

  • EIT Certification is a plus
  • HydroCAD software experience is a plus
  • Construction experience is a plus
  • Engineering Consulting industry is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist project managers with the preparation of permitting application, design plans and specifications.
  • Visit job sites to perform project tasks including, field inspections, SWPPP inspections, and surveying and construction observation.
  • Office work may include engineering design, CAD drafting support, stormwater analysis, and preparation of permitting applications.
  • Work on a variety of civil engineering projects at any given time as workload requires, but an emphasis will be placed primarily on civil land development for renewable energy projects.
