About The Position

Stantec is accepting applications for Summer 2027 Civil Engineering interns in its Community Development Group in Minneapolis or Plymouth. Interns work in a team environment and gain exposure to residential, commercial, and industrial community development projects. Project work may include urban design and planning, erosion control, stormwater pollution prevention plans, water and wastewater conveyance, and stormwater management. The group provides efficient, sustainable, environmentally responsible, functional, and technically sound solutions. Its collaborative team dynamic supports career growth and opportunities to work with other sectors and disciplines across Stantec.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor's degree program in civil engineering; a bachelor's degree is the minimum.
Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Understand the basics of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Strong interest in community development engineering disciplines.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, take direction, and work independently.
Have a vehicle, a good driving record, and a valid driver's license, or another means of reliable transportation to the office and potentially to project site visits as needed.

Nice To Haves

Coursework or exposure to one or more of the following: hydrologic design, environmental engineering, transportation, soil mechanics, surveying, and construction or project management.

Responsibilities

Develop technical abilities to complete civil design tasks across a wide variety of projects in a dynamic team setting.
Assist with preparing plans, specifications, reports, and other project deliverables.
Attend internal design team meetings and, as needed, client meetings.
Procure permits and other approvals from various agencies.
Communicate effectively with construction and engineering staff, clients, and other project stakeholders.
Assist with CAD drafting and design and prepare construction documents.
