About The Position

Barry Isett & Associates is offering a Summer 2027 internship with its Civil Land Development team in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The internship provides a Civil Engineering student with hands-on exposure to the engineering, planning, design, and permitting processes involved in residential, commercial, institutional, and public-sector development projects. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals and learn how multidisciplinary teams collaborate to advance projects from initial concepts through design, approvals, and construction. The position also offers exposure to a variety of projects and disciplines, with mentoring from professionals across the firm.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Interest in land development, site design, infrastructure, and community development.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute in a collaborative environment.
• Ability to work in the Allentown, Pennsylvania office during Summer 2027.

Responsibilities

• Observe the site development planning process and learn how engineers evaluate project feasibility.
• Gain exposure to site design, grading, utility infrastructure, and land development approvals.
• Learn about stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and environmental permitting requirements.
• Observe how engineers collaborate with municipalities, regulatory agencies, clients, and project stakeholders.
• Work alongside surveyors, environmental scientists, transportation engineers, landscape architects, and other technical professionals throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop an understanding of how projects progress from initial concepts through design, approvals, and construction.
