Summer 2027 Internship - Civil Land Development
About The Position
Barry Isett & Associates is offering a Summer 2027 internship with its Civil Land Development team in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The internship provides a Civil Engineering student with hands-on exposure to the engineering, planning, design, and permitting processes involved in residential, commercial, institutional, and public-sector development projects. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals and learn how multidisciplinary teams collaborate to develop projects that benefit communities. The internship also offers exposure to a broad range of projects and disciplines, with opportunities to learn about potential career paths in site design, infrastructure planning, municipal engineering, and consulting.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Interest in land development, site design, infrastructure, and community development.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to work in the Allentown, Pennsylvania office during Summer 2027.
Responsibilities
- Observe site development planning and learn how engineers evaluate project feasibility.
- Gain exposure to site design, grading, utility infrastructure, and land development approvals.
- Learn about stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and environmental permitting requirements.
- Observe collaboration among engineers, municipalities, regulatory agencies, clients, and project stakeholders.
- Work alongside surveyors, environmental scientists, transportation engineers, landscape architects, and other technical professionals throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop an understanding of how projects progress from initial concepts through design, approvals, and construction.
