Civil Engineer – Site / Land Development
About The Position
This is an on-site Civil Engineer role focused on site and land development in Wheeling, Illinois. The consulting firm provides civil engineering and site planning services and has in-house land surveyors and site planners. The position offers an opportunity to take on increased project responsibility, with training and development and support toward obtaining the licensure required to become a Civil Engineer under state guidelines. The client is seeking local candidates and will not consider candidates who require relocation or have limited work authorization or temporary permits. Land surveyors are not a fit for this role. Sponsorship is not available.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
- At least 3 years of civil engineering experience.
- Experience with site development, land development, municipal, or transportation projects.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Must be a local candidate; candidates requiring relocation will not be considered.
- Candidates with limited work authorization or temporary permits will not be considered.
Nice To Haves
- Internship experience or 1–2 years of experience as a Field Engineer, or experience in land development.
- Interest in training and development toward the licensure required to become a Civil Engineer under state guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support civil design projects from concept through construction.
- Prepare and review grading, drainage, utility, and site development plans.
- Perform engineering calculations and ensure compliance with local and state regulations.
- Coordinate with in-house land surveyors and site planners.
- Communicate with municipalities, clients, and internal teams.
