Civil Engineer - Land Development
About The Position
LaBella Associates is looking for an entry level Engineer to join our Civil Division in our Rochester, NY office. This role involves storm water and wastewater infiltration testing and design, pavement evaluation and assessment, and the development of detailed construction drawings and specifications for various site elements. The position also includes field oversight of subsurface investigations, performing technical analysis based on investigation results, preparing engineering reports, and conducting field inspections during construction. The role requires a flexible schedule to accommodate site visits and occasional out-of-town work.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in civil engineering or related field experience.
- 0 to 5 years of progressive civil engineering experience with a focus on soil based design.
- EIT or the ability to obtain within 12 months.
- AutoCAD basic drafting capability.
- Proficient in Microsoft productivity suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate efficiently with teammates in different disciplines and different locations.
- Drivers license required.
- Possess a high capacity for self-motivation and be able to apply engineering knowledge to a variety of projects.
- Ability and willingness to receive and understand instructions/guidance and complete tasks independently.
- Ability to travel to different work sites.
Responsibilities
- Storm water and wastewater infiltration testing and design.
- Pavement evaluation and assessment.
- Development of detailed construction drawings and specifications for steep slopes, site retaining walls, culverts, and pavement sections.
- Field oversight of subsurface investigations and soil investigation services.
- Flexible schedule to arrive at project sites at required times, out of town work periodically.
- Perform technical analysis and provide parameters for design based on subsurface investigation results.
- Prepare interpretive engineering reports.
- Perform field inspections during the construction phase, as needed.
