About The Position

As a Civil Engineer Intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting the planning, design, and execution of civil engineering projects across various sectors such as transportation, infrastructure, and environmental engineering. This position offers hands-on experience in applying engineering principles to real-world challenges, contributing to the development of safe, sustainable, and efficient structures and systems. You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers and project teams to assist in drafting designs, conducting site inspections, and performing technical analyses. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited Bachelor’s degree program in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Basic understanding of civil engineering principles and construction methods.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in CAD software.
  • Solid grasp of civil engineering fundamentals.
  • Analytical skills enable the intern to assess data and contribute to problem-solving during project planning and execution.
  • Effective communication skills are used daily to collaborate with team members, document findings, and present technical information clearly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with engineering software such as MATLAB, STAAD.Pro, or similar structural analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to civil engineering projects.
  • Previous internship or project experience in civil engineering or construction.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing detailed engineering designs, drawings, and specifications using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Support site visits and inspections to monitor project progress and ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
  • Conduct research and gather data related to materials, environmental conditions, and regulatory requirements to inform project planning.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, contractors, and environmental specialists to coordinate project activities.
  • Help prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and project documentation to support project management and client communications.
