About The Position

The Duke Energy Nuclear Fleet Corporate Design Engineering (CDE) department serves as the Design Authority for Duke Energy’s six nuclear sites. CDE executes a fleet portfolio of design solutions supporting risk reduction, equipment obsolescence, and plant modernization. Depending on the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience, the position may be filled at the Engineer III or Senior Engineer level. The role develops engineering design changes and supports them through review, approval, installation, and testing. Work may involve stress, structural, dynamic/seismic, steel, and concrete analyses, along with related design specifications, calculations, licensing evaluations, and revisions to plant and regulatory documents. The position is based at McGuire Nuclear Station and uses a hybrid arrangement after onboarding. Employees must live within a reasonable commute of the assigned Duke Energy facility, no more than 50 miles one way, and are expected to work onsite an average of two full workdays per regular work week. The work is typically in an office, with some plant work for system walkdowns and field support. Travel is required, listed as 5–10% and also 5–15% in the posting. Relocation assistance may be provided, as applicable.
