About The Position

Nuclear Operations Technicians perform surveillances throughout McGuire Nuclear Station and operate plant valves and equipment. The role includes monitoring and reporting system and component status, performing equipment tests and checks, and isolating or restoring equipment. Technicians serve as active members of the station Fire Brigade and complete ongoing training to maintain proficiency. While serving as an Auxiliary Operator, the employee is expected to work toward advancement to a licensed position by progressing academically and developing job knowledge. This includes successfully completing generic fundamentals training and a plant-specific license class leading to an NRC-administered license exam. The anticipated progression is approximately five years from Auxiliary Operator to selection for Reactor Operator training, followed by approximately two years to selection for Senior Reactor Operator training. Work is performed onsite at the company facility. The role involves day and night shifts, year-round outdoor surveillance, frequent overtime, and weekend or holiday work. The plant environment includes extreme temperature ranges, high humidity, dust, fumes, and high noise levels, as well as potential exposure to rotating equipment and high-temperature, high-pressure fluids. Employees must be able to wear required protective clothing and equipment. Travel requirements are 5–15%. Relocation assistance may be provided, as applicable. The anticipated start date is February 8, 2027. The hiring manager may fill the position at a higher level in the job hierarchy depending on the successful applicant’s qualifications; December 2026 engineering graduates may be considered for Nuclear Operations Technician II.
