Civil Engineer, EIT – Residential Land Development
About The Position
Atwell is seeking a Civil Engineer, EIT for residential land development projects. The role offers the opportunity to develop subject-matter expertise in residential, commercial, and/or industrial land development. The engineer drafts preliminary and final site plans, analyzes project survey data and existing site conditions, and prepares reports, opinions, computations, recommendations, and permit applications that support project planning and delivery. The position also provides construction-related support and organizes site plans, construction plans, and documents under the guidance of senior staff. Work is completed using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software in accordance with established standards, with regular collaboration and communication with staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- At least 2 years of experience.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) credential.

- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, WaterCAD, StormCAD, and SewerCAD.
Responsibilities
- Draft preliminary and final site plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, ensuring precision and adherence to industry standards.
- Analyze project survey data and assess existing site conditions, including legal descriptions, ALTA surveys, easement documents, and condominium documents.
- Prepare reports, opinions, and recommendations, including hydrology and hydraulic studies, due diligence and site analysis reports, opinions of probable costs, project schedules, utility computations, detention and retention computations, storm sewer reports, permit applications, stormwater and soils reports, earthwork volume calculations, StormCAD and WaterCAD reports, and preliminary grading.
- Provide construction-related services, including permit applications, cut sheets, quantity estimates, and transmittals.
- Organize site plans, construction plans, and construction documents under the guidance of senior staff.
- Use AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software to complete assignments efficiently and in alignment with established standards.
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with staff to support project coordination.
