Civil Engineer - Bridge/Structural - Entry Level
About The Position
The Poughkeepsie, NY office of Modjeski and Masters, Inc. is seeking Entry Level Civil/Structural Bridge Design Engineers. As a Structural Bridge Design Engineer with Modjeski and Masters, you will work on a variety of challenging and rewarding bridge engineering projects for a myriad of transportation clients. As a member of our team, you'll be immediately responsible for performing engineering tasks under the careful supervision of established and respected professionals. You'll have opportunities to interact directly with clients, become a valued partner on a variety of high-impact projects, and apply fresh insights at every stage of a bridge's life cycle. Many of our projects result in new techniques and new standards for everyone else to follow.
Requirements
- A minimum of a BS degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
- 0 - 4 years of Bridge Engineering experience
- Engineer Intern (EI) Certification or the ability to receive Certification within 6 months of hire date
- Use engineering analysis software such as LUSAS, RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.
- Able to learn and correctly apply relevant design specifications, including: AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, ACI, etc.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States
Responsibilities
- Review and check standard structural design calculations.
- Assist with structural analysis and design of standard bridge components using analysis software.
- Assist with the development of preliminary details using CAD software and provide information to CAD technicians for development of contract plans.
- Provide information for design reports.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including field inspections and construction service assignments.
- Communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
- Assist with the preparation of project-related documents and internal correspondence.
- Assist and perform and check quantity take-offs from contract plans.
- Review and check drawings under the careful supervision of a Senior Engineer.
