About The Position

American Infrastructure Development, Inc. (AID) is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer with approximately 3–5 years of experience to join their growing Tampa team. This role will contribute to significant aviation, airport, and civil infrastructure projects across Florida, the United States, and the Caribbean. Responsibilities include civil design, technical documentation, permitting, project coordination, field investigations, and construction-phase support for both airside and landside infrastructure. AID is looking for a self-starter who takes ownership, communicates proactively, anticipates project needs, and is eager to develop specialized aviation and airport engineering expertise while gaining broader exposure to the complete project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
• Approximately 3–5 years of relevant civil engineering or design experience
• Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D
• Experience producing civil construction plans and technical design documents
• Understanding of grading, drainage, stormwater, utilities, pavement, site development, or related civil engineering disciplines
• Ability to interpret surveys, design criteria, technical specifications, and construction documents
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary project team
• Willingness to visit project sites and travel occasionally when required
• Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

• Engineer Intern or Engineer-in-Training certification
• Progress toward obtaining a Florida Professional Engineer license
• Previous aviation or airport engineering experience
• Experience with runway, taxiway, aircraft apron, or airfield pavement projects
• Knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars and airport design standards
• Familiarity with FDOT standards and Florida permitting requirements
• Experience with AutoCAD, Storm and Sanitary Analysis, Hydraflow, ICPR, AutoTURN, Bluebeam, or similar engineering software
• Experience with construction administration, field inspection, or contractor coordination
• Familiarity with stormwater modeling, utility design, and regulatory permitting
• Experience with roadway, transportation, or related civil infrastructure projects
• Strong interest in developing specialized airport and aviation infrastructure expertise

Responsibilities

• Prepare civil engineering designs, calculations, plans, and technical documentation
• Use Autodesk Civil 3D to develop surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, grading plans, utility layouts, and construction documents
• Support the design of airport runways, taxiways, aircraft aprons, access roads, parking areas, and associated infrastructure
• Assist with grading, drainage, stormwater, earthwork, erosion-control, and utility design
• Prepare civil construction plan sets, technical specifications, quantity calculations, and construction cost estimates
• Interpret surveys, design criteria, technical specifications, and construction documents
• Conduct engineering research and apply applicable design standards, codes, and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate civil design requirements with architects, aviation planners, engineers, surveyors, contractors, and airport representatives
• Support airport and civil infrastructure projects through planning, design, permitting, bidding, and construction
• Assist with FAA, FDOT, environmental, municipal, county, and other applicable permitting requirements
• Support agency coordination and respond to permitting comments as required
• Participate in site visits, field investigations, preconstruction meetings, and construction observations
• Review shop drawings, contractor submittals, product data, requests for information, and contractor questions
• Assist project managers with project schedules, budgets, quality control, and client deliverables
• Identify potential design conflicts and recommend practical engineering solutions
• Maintain organized project files and accurate technical documentation
• Communicate project progress, challenges, priorities, and potential issues clearly to the project team
• Take ownership of assigned tasks and follow them through to completion
• Support multiple projects while managing deadlines and changing priorities
• Participate in AID’s formal quality-assurance and quality-control process
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams throughout the project lifecycle

Benefits

• Base salary of $82,000–$105,000
