Entry Level Civil Construction Estimator
About The Position
Central Southern Construction Corp. is seeking an Entry Level Estimator to join our estimating team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to begin or grow their career in the civil construction industry while working directly alongside our Chief Estimator. The Estimator will assist with the bidding and preconstruction process for civil construction projects. This position will include reviewing plans and specifications, assisting with quantity takeoffs and pricing, contacting subcontractors and vendors, and helping develop competitive project bids. No extensive estimating experience is required. We are looking for someone who is organized, comfortable communicating with others, willing to learn, and interested in developing a career in civil construction estimating.
Requirements

- Strong communication and phone skills
- Comfortable making outbound calls to subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Basic Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and Outlook
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Willingness to learn civil construction estimating and bidding processes
- Motivated, dependable, and comfortable picking up the phone and communicating with new subcontractors and vendors.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's or Associate degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred, but not required
- Ability to read construction plans and specifications is a plus, but training can be provided
- Hands on experience and the opportunity to learn estimating directly from an experienced Chief Estimator.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with the Chief Estimator to assist with project bids and estimates
- Review construction plans, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements
- Assist with quantity takeoffs and material pricing
- Cold call subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to request pricing and generate interest in bidding projects
- Follow up with subcontractors and vendors regarding outstanding quotes
- Assist with identifying potential subcontractors and suppliers for upcoming projects
- Organize and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals
- Assist with preparing bid packages and maintaining estimating files
- Track bid invitations, deadlines, and required documentation
- Maintain and develop subcontractor and vendor contact lists
- Assist the estimating team with additional preconstruction and administrative tasks as needed
