About The Position

The City of Sandy Springs is seeking an experienced and highly motivated CIP Field Superintendent to oversee field operations for critical Public Works Capital Improvement Projects (CIP). This position plays a key role in ensuring that construction projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Five (5) years of construction contract field delivery experience in a municipal or government environment
  • Knowledge of construction engineering principles, inspection practices, contract administration, and financial management requirements
  • Familiarity with Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) standards and specifications
  • Valid Georgia driver's license with the ability to operate a City vehicle
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field
  • Eight (8) or more years of construction engineering, inspection, or testing experience
  • Working knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)

Responsibilities

  • Managing and inspecting daily construction activities performed by contractors
  • Monitoring project schedules, productivity, quality, and contract compliance
  • Conducting and documenting field inspections and maintaining construction records
  • Measuring completed work and reviewing contractor pay applications
  • Verifying contractor and subcontractor compliance with contract requirements, wage regulations, payroll documentation, material certifications, and testing reports
  • Leading contractor progress meetings and coordinating project communications
  • Ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements and traffic control standards, including MUTCD guidelines
  • Collaborating with City staff, utilities, contractors, and residents to resolve project issues
  • Assisting with bid package development and project planning activities
  • Participating in Public Works after-hours on-call rotations and emergency response operations
  • Identifying project risks, schedule concerns, and field conflicts while helping develop practical solutions
