Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in related field
  • Requires one (1) year with library experience in Children's area
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience
  • Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Applicant must take and pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the City's expense.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Library Science from an institution accredited by the American Library Association
  • Additional education and experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the above requirements

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the supervision of employees and volunteers.
  • Managing and maintaining the Children's collection of materials.
  • Assisting with budget and long-range planning.
  • Conducting library tours.
  • Arranging school class visits.
  • Planning story time and crafts.
  • Providing information on library programs.
  • Collaborating with other library staff and local organizations to develop programs and services.
  • Attending seminars and events to stay current with the latest developments and technologies.
  • Providing assistance and support as needed.
  • Providing excellent customer service to all customers.
