About The Position

The Childcare Lead Teacher plans lessons and instructs children in activities according to the approved curriculum, supporting their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth and development. The role establishes and maintains a safe, healthy, welcoming, and positive learning environment; promotes and participates in center functions; and builds positive relationships with families. The Lead Teacher also provides direction to classroom staff and helps ensure the classroom operates according to its daily schedule and applicable policies and regulations.

Requirements

• Meet state licensing requirements for education and experience.
• Have knowledge of early childhood education and curriculum.
• Have knowledge of child care licensing rules and regulations.
• Be able to obtain training in CPR, fire safety, and other required training.
• Have a CDA or degree in early childhood education (ECE).
• Meet all state requirements for a lead teacher.

Responsibilities

• Implement weekly curricula that address all learning goals.
• Provide direction to other staff in the classroom.
• Organize the classroom and ensure adherence to the daily schedule.
• Adhere to state and Discovery Point policies and regulations.
• Communicate in a friendly, professional manner with parents, staff, and management.
• Maintain a welcoming, upbeat, and positive classroom atmosphere.
• Maintain classroom safety and cleanliness.
• Promote and participate in center functions.
• Communicate with family members and develop positive relationships with them.
