Childcare Coordinator
About The Position
The Childcare Coordinator plays a key role in supporting high-quality programming across the Child Development Center, School Age Care, and Camp Sokkia. This position assists with daily operations, staff support, program implementation, and family engagement to ensure a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for all children. The coordinator will serve as the site lead at the DPS61 site located at the St. John’s Church during the school year, and as the Lead Counselor for Camp Sokkia during the summer. The coordinator works collaboratively with leadership to maintain compliance, enhance program quality, and support the YMCA’s mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in childcare, school-age programming, or camp setting
- Knowledge of state licensing requirements and best practices in youth development
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build relationships and lead with a positive, team-oriented approach
- CPR/First Aid certification (we will provide if needed)
Responsibilities
- Support daily operations of the Child Development Center, Child Watch, School Age Care, and Camp Sokkia programs
- Help maintain compliance with all state licensing, safety, and YMCA standards
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff
- Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities
- Support enrollment efforts, including tours, registrations, and family communication
- Work with the program Director to monitor program quality and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement
- Step into classroom or program coverage as needed to maintain appropriate ratios
- Assist with special events, family engagement opportunities, and seasonal programming (including camp)
- Ensure proper documentation, record-keeping, and reporting requirements are met
