About The Position

The Childcare Cook, also referred to as the Food Specialist, is responsible for preparing food for the school’s enrolled children. The role involves adapting to menu changes, meeting meal and snack schedules, creating home-style nutritional meal plans within the school’s menu and budget, and complying with state and federal requirements. The Cook prepares meals and snacks for children and staff and distributes food to classrooms. The position also maintains food and supply inventory, orders supplies as needed, and may assist in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater. The work week is Monday through Friday.

• Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
• Flexibility regarding hours and work schedule.

• Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility.

Responsibilities

• Create home-style, nutritional meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements.
• Prepare meals and snacks for children and staff and distribute food to classrooms.
• Adapt to menu changes and meet meal and snack schedules.
• Follow the daily menu provided by the Director, including USDA, licensing, and/or health department regulations.
• Maintain inventory of food and supplies and order more when needed.
• Assist in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher or Floater.
