About The Position

The Learning Experience is seeking a hands-on Childcare Center Director to lead an early childhood education center in Andover, Massachusetts. The Director oversees daily operations, leads and develops the teaching team, maintains licensing and quality standards, and supports enrollment and overall center performance. The role involves developing staff, supporting families, managing operational priorities, and taking ownership of the center’s success. The Director is responsible for recruiting, hiring, onboarding, coaching, and retaining staff; establishing a positive team culture; and supporting professional development. They oversee staffing, scheduling, classroom coverage, licensing compliance, curriculum implementation, and the safety and organization of the school. The role also includes welcoming prospective families, supporting enrollment and retention, monitoring center performance and budgets, and working with ownership and regional leadership on school priorities. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with an annual salary of $80,000–$100,000 based on experience and qualifications. Requirements

Meet applicable Massachusetts EEC Director qualification requirements.
Hold Massachusetts EEC Director I or Director II qualification, as required for the assigned role.
Have previous leadership experience in a licensed childcare, preschool, or early childhood education center.
Have experience coaching teachers, managing staffing, and supporting enrollment growth.
Have a strong understanding of childcare licensing, classroom quality, and operational standards.
Have strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Be able to manage multiple priorities and make sound operational decisions.
Meet applicable background screening and regulatory requirements.

Nice To Haves

At least 2 years of childcare leadership or management experience preferred.
Previous Center Director or Assistant Center Director experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Recruit, hire, onboard, coach, and retain qualified teachers and staff.
Build a positive, supportive team culture centered on teamwork, communication, and accountability.
Set expectations, provide feedback, recognize employee achievements, and support staff professional development.
Oversee daily operations, staffing, scheduling, and classroom coverage.
Ensure compliance with Massachusetts EEC licensing, health, and safety requirements.
Maintain classroom ratios, documentation, and operating standards.
Oversee implementation of The Learning Experience’s L.E.A.P. Curriculum.
Maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-organized school environment.
Welcome prospective families, conduct tours, and support enrollment growth.
Build relationships with families and support long-term retention.
Monitor enrollment, staffing, labor costs, budgets, and center performance.
Identify improvement opportunities and take action to achieve center goals.
Support local marketing, community events, and referral opportunities.
Communicate professionally with families and staff, and address concerns promptly, thoughtfully, and confidentially.
Partner with ownership and regional leadership on school priorities.
Create an environment where children, families, and educators feel valued.
