Requirements

  • High school diploma and four and one-half years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judicial or paralegal or related work experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the work including one year of Child Support (IV-D) experience at Child Support Agent level or higher is required.
  • Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Law Enforcement or closed related degree and two and one-half years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judicial or paralegal or related work experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the work including one year of IV-D experience at Child Support Agent level or higher is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree and one and one half years of experience in the IV-D experience at Child Support Agent level or higher is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • The applicant selected must undergo and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.

Responsibilities

  • Review court orders, forms, and case actions by screening each document and verifying via the ACTS computer system for accuracy and completeness; ensure time frames and assist agents in accomplishing goals.
  • Log agent's actions on log via computer program to evaluate effectiveness of agents for statistical purposes.
  • Evaluate agent's progress in casework by formal/informal review of caseloads through computer-generated reports and ACTS to ensure all cases are worked and receive the same priority and attention.
  • Evaluate agents monthly by reviewing reports, complaints and tracking log to ensure a fair and equitable performance evaluation.
  • Perform public relations by solving problems, concerns, answer inquiries by communication with custodial parents and non-custodial parents through appointments, walk-ins, emails and telephone calls.
  • Write narrative reports regarding case activity documenting those events and actions taken in the Child Support Computer system (ACTS).
  • Provide training and instruction to new and experienced staff members.
  • Check daily sign in/out logs, approve time off.
  • Monitor caseloads to ensure equitable assigned caseloads.
  • Review vacant position applications, assist in the interview process and make recommendations to ensure the right person is hired for the position.
  • Must be available to work mandatory emergency shelters & other duties as assigned.
