About The Position

This vacancy is located in the Calcasieu Parish Child Support Enforcement Office in Lake Charles, Louisiana. This position is responsible for working within the administration of the Child Support Enforcement (CSE) program within Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), Division of Family Support. The goal of CSE is to ensure that parents fulfill their obligation to provide financial and medical support for their child/children. The incumbent in this position will also provide direct supervision over two highly skilled CSE Specialists who provide extensive case management to program participants. This position requires extensive knowledge and understanding of the "Leading Individuals to Vital Employment" (LIVE) grant/program and the Child Support Program and is responsible for maximizing the federal funds awarded through this grant.

Requirements

  • Six years of experience in child support enforcement; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in child support enforcement; OR A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in child support enforcement; OR A master's degree plus two years of experience in child support enforcement.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision over two highly skilled CSE Specialists who provide extensive case management to program participants
  • Requires extensive knowledge and understanding of the "Leading Individuals to Vital Employment" (LIVE) grant/program and the Child Support Program and is responsible for maximizing the federal funds awarded through this grant.
  • Supervises staff responsible for processing applications/referrals, case management, and participant services within the "LIVE" grant.
  • Provides training, coaching, and mentoring to staff to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Assists staff in applying and following the federal grant requirements.
  • Coordinates with the State Project Manager (DCFS Regional Administrator) and Local Project Manager (DCFS Area Director) to align services with program goals and participant needs.
  • Compiles and submits reports to the Local Project Manager (DCFS Area Director) and/or the Data Coordinator.
  • Builds and maintains effective communication with the contracted Employment Specialists, court personnel, contracted district attorneys or staff attorneys, and community partners.
  • Assists with additional tasks to better serve the participants and their families as may be assigned by the State Project Manager (DCFS Regional Administrator), the CSE Executive Director, or the Local Project Manager (DCFS Area Director).
  • Performs additional duties, as needed, for the overall efficiency of the initiative/grant.

  • Special Entrance Rate (SER): $24.35/hour
  • Probational appointment or a job appointment that may last up to 48 months. Job appointments may convert to probational appointments.
  • May be filled as a detail and promoted within 12 months or by promotion of a permanent classified employee.
