About The Position

This vacancy is located in the Calcasieu Parish Child Support Enforcement Office in Lake Charles, Louisiana. This position is responsible for the administration of the Child Support Enforcement (CSE) program within the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). The goal of CSE is to ensure that parents fulfill their obligation to provide financial and medical support for their child/children. This position requires extensive knowledge and understanding of the "Leading Individuals to Vital Employment" (LIVE) grant/program and the Child Support Program and is responsible for maximizing the federal funds awarded through this grant.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in child support enforcement; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus two years of experience in child support enforcement; OR A bachelor’s degree plus two years of experience in child support enforcement; OR A master’s degree plus one year of experience in child support enforcement.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Provides services to non-custodial parents who are actively participating in the CSE program to help them with the education, skills, and employment training to become gainfully employed so they can better support their children financially and emotionally.
  • Completes and processes new applications/referrals into the "Leading Individuals to Vital Employment" (LIVE) caseload.
  • Identifies the barriers preventing compliance with the CSE program.
  • Provides information on the available services and resources to be provided by the LIVE grant to applicants.
  • Provides enhanced child support services with regular and ongoing case management.
  • Establishes and maintains good communication with the community-based Employment Specialists and other community partners to align services with the needs of the participants.
  • Completes screening assessments, referral documents, tracking logs, etc., as needed for the grant.
  • Functions as a point of contact for the LIVE grant project.
  • Prepares and maintains reports on participant data, including but not limited to participation, services provided, employment status, program completion and retention.
  • Provides reports to the LIVE Supervisor and/or the Data Coordinator as requested in a timely manner.
  • Performs additional duties, as needed, for the overall efficiency of the initiative/grant.

  • May be filled as a probational appointment or a job appointment that may last up to 48 months.
  • Job appointments may convert to probational appointments.
