About The Position

This position is responsible for the administration of the Child Support Enforcement (CSE) program within the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), Division of Family Support. The goal of CSE is to ensure that parents fulfill their obligation to provide financial and medical support for their child/children. The incumbent in this position is responsible for the supervision of employees in Collections and Intake that manage over 2,000 cases. This vacancy is located in the Lafayette Parish Child Support Enforcement Office in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Requirements

  • Six years of experience in child support enforcement; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in child support enforcement; OR A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in child support enforcement; OR A master's degree plus two years of experience in child support enforcement.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct-line supervision over a unit of DCFS Child Support Enforcement (CSE) staff in Collections and Intake that manage over 2,000 cases.
  • Assists the CSE Manager, as needed, to keep the office running smoothly.
  • Participates in the hiring of analysts by interviewing candidates, contacting references, and completing scoring sheets.
  • Conducts unit and individual trainings; ensures analysts know their responsibilities prior to expecting them to function in the courts or outside of the office setting without close supervision.
  • Monitors and approves unit payroll actions to ensure it is completed timely and accurately.
  • Investigates and resolves complaints from custodial parties, non-custodial parties or other individuals.
  • Develops and maintains a good working relationship with the contract District Attorneys' offices, Clerk of Courts' offices, hearing officers, judges, and other agency partners, as well as other local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Keeps up to date with policy and administrative memorandums.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
