About The Position

The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking a Child Support Enforcement Specialist for the Lafayette Region. This role is responsible for the administration of the Child Support Enforcement (CSE) program, ensuring parents meet their financial and medical support obligations for their children. The position is ideal for someone who is driven, collaborative, and eager to make a positive impact.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in child support enforcement; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus two years of experience in child support enforcement; OR A bachelor’s degree plus two years of experience in child support enforcement; OR A master’s degree plus one year of experience in child support enforcement.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Completes and processes new applications/cases while maintaining a caseload of the highest complexity.
  • Interprets and applies CSE policy and federal and state laws and regulations in all cases.
  • Trains, develops and evaluates SSAs and support staff by identifying specific problem areas.
  • Serves as backup to the supervisor and performs functional supervisory duties.
  • Interprets program policies for SSAs to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, program directives, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Provides caseload coverage when caseloads have not yet been assigned to an SSA or in the case of extended absence of SSA.
  • Performs other duties assigned by higher ranking authorities.
