About The Position

This is a part-time, non-exempt/hourly position reporting to the Director. The Child Care Worker is responsible for supervising children aged 1-5+, ensuring a safe and secure environment for play and learning. Key duties include organizing snack distribution, monitoring children for emotional distress, communicating with parents, changing diapers, toilet training, and participating in dismissal procedures. The role also involves acting as a witness to Gospel values by modeling Catholic Church teachings, supporting parish and Archdiocese policies, maintaining confidentiality, and demonstrating professionalism. A stimulating and varied schedule of age-appropriate activities is to be maintained, along with cleaning and disinfecting items used. The position requires having medical and emergency records, and a first aid kit on hand daily. Additionally, at least one staff member trained in CPR/First Aid must be present during operating hours. Important job functions include the ability to work well with students and parents, follow directions, handle multiple tasks, and possess proficient technology skills. The role requires effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old
  • One (1) year of experience in a childcare setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be a team player
  • Have reliable transportation
  • CPR and First Aid certification (can be obtained during job training)
  • Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening

  • CDA credential preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise children (ages 1 - 5+) at all times, maintaining a secure, safe environment for children to play and learn in.
  • Organize Child snack distribution and clean up
  • Watch for signs of emotional stress and contact the parent via text if necessary
  • Communicates effectively with students and parents
  • Change diapers/ toilet train children where necessary.
  • Participates in dismissal procedures at the end of after care, ensuring that each child leaves with the appropriate adult (i.e., an authorized adult)
  • Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the parish and Archdiocese of San Antonio.
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
  • Maintaining a stimulating and varied schedule of activities appropriate for the students in a well-ordered environment
  • Clean and disinfect items used prior to the end of the shift.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Director
  • Have copy of medical and emergency records and first aid kit on hand daily
  • Ensure that during the hours of operation there is at least one staff member trained in CPR/First Aid
