About The Position

The Child Care Worker will supervise children (ages 1-5+) at all times, maintaining a secure and safe environment for children to play and learn. This role involves organizing snack distribution, changing diapers, and participating in dismissal procedures. The worker will also act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church and supporting the policies of the parish and Archdiocese of San Antonio. Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits is essential. The position requires maintaining a stimulating and varied schedule of activities, cleaning and disinfecting items, and performing other duties as assigned by the Director. Daily availability of medical and emergency records, along with a first aid kit, is necessary. Ensuring at least one staff member trained in CPR/First Aid is present during operating hours is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 18 years old
  • One (1) year of experience in a childcare setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be a team player
  • Have reliable transportation
  • CPR and First Aid certification (can be obtained during job training)
  • Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening

Nice To Haves

  • CDA credential preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise children (ages 1 - 5+) at all times, maintaining a secure, safe environment for children to play and learn in.
  • Organize Child snack distribution and clean up
  • Watch for signs of emotional stress and contact the parent via text if necessary
  • Communicates effectively with students and parents
  • Change diapers/ toilet train children where necessary.
  • Participates in dismissal procedures at the end of after care, ensuring that each child leaves with the appropriate adult (i.e., an authorized adult)
  • Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the parish and Archdiocese of San Antonio.
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
  • Maintaining a stimulating and varied schedule of activities appropriate for the students in a well-ordered environment
  • Clean and disinfect items used prior to the end of the shift.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Director
  • Have copy of medical and emergency records and first aid kit on hand daily
  • Ensure that during the hours of operation there is at least one staff member trained in CPR/First Aid
