Child Care Worker - Domestic Violence Programs

About The Position

This role involves assisting the Child Care Supervisor in maintaining the Child Care room, ensuring constant supervision of children, and contributing to the preparation of the child care curriculum. The position focuses on promoting learning through play and educational activities, assisting with field trips and special events, and escorting residents on outside activities. The role also includes promoting nutritional diets and exercise programs, providing feedback to Case Managers on children's needs, and attending monthly child care and staff meetings. A key responsibility is assisting residents in finding permanent child care placements and participating in training seminars to enhance skills. The Child Care Worker will regularly assess the safety and well-being of all children and perform other duties as assigned by the Director.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years’ experience working with children is required.
  • Must be knowledgeable of and sensitive to concerns of child development, domestic violence, and child abuse.
  • Must be knowledgeable and sensitive to DV issues.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and experience with and/or knowledge of domestic violence within and against disenfranchised communities including individuals whom identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and/or HIV-affected, the elderly and individuals with mental health issues.
  • Must have CPR, First Aid Certification
  • Must have demonstrated skills in interaction with children and proven ability to engage children ages 4 months to 8 years or elementary school
  • Must have ability to be flexible with schedule as needed.
  • Must be computer literate and have knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Child friendly and energetic.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring supervision of children at all times.

  • Attending the monthly child care meeting and monthly staff meeting.
  • Assisting the residents in finding a permanent child care placement.
  • Participating in training seminars conducted to enhance and develop one’s skills.
  • Regularly assessing safety and well-being of all the children.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Director.
