About The Position

The Child Care Cook, also called the Food Specialist, is responsible for preparing food for children enrolled at the school. The role requires adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The cook creates home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements; prepares meals and snacks for children and staff; and distributes food to classrooms. The cook follows the daily menu provided by the Director, including applicable USDA, licensing, and health department regulations. The position also maintains food and supply inventory, orders supplies when needed, and assists in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater as needed.

• Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
• Flexibility with work hours and schedule.

• Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility.
