About The Position

The Child Care Cook, also called a Food Specialist, is responsible for preparing food for the school’s enrolled children. The role requires adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The cook plans and prepares home-style, nutritious meals within the school’s menu and budget, following applicable state and federal requirements. The position also prepares meals and snacks for children and staff, distributes food to classrooms, maintains food and supply inventory, and orders supplies as needed. The cook may assist in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater.

• Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
• Flexibility regarding work hours and schedule.

Nice To Haves

• Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility.

Responsibilities

• Create home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements.
• Prepare meals and snacks for children and staff, and distribute food to classrooms.
• Adapt to menu changes and meet meal and snack schedules.
• Follow the daily menu provided by the Director and applicable USDA, licensing, and health department regulations.
• Maintain inventory of food and supplies and order more when needed.
• Assist in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher or Floater.
