About The Position

The Child Care Cook, also referred to as a Food Specialist, is responsible for overall food preparation for the school’s enrolled children. The role involves adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The Cook creates home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements. The position also prepares meals and snacks for children and staff, distributes food to classrooms, follows the Director’s daily menu and applicable USDA, licensing, and health department regulations, and maintains food and supply inventory. The Cook may also assist in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater when needed.

• Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
• Flexibility regarding work hours and schedule.

Nice To Haves

• Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements.
• Prepare meals and snacks for children and staff and distribute food to classrooms.
• Follow the daily menu provided by the Director, incorporating USDA, licensing, and/or health department regulations.
• Maintain inventory of food and supplies and order more when needed.
• Assist in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher/Floater as needed.
• Adapt to menu changes and meet meal and snack schedules.
