About The Position
The Child Care Cook, also called a Food Specialist, is responsible for preparing food for the school’s enrolled children. The role adapts to menu changes while meeting meal and snack schedules. The cook creates home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget, and in accordance with state and federal requirements. The position also prepares meals and snacks for children and staff, distributes food to classrooms, follows the daily menu provided by the Director, and maintains food and supply inventory. The cook may assist in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater when needed.
Requirements
- Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
- Flexibility regarding work hours and schedule.

- Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility.
Responsibilities
- Create home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements.
- Prepare meals and snacks for children and staff.
- Distribute food to classrooms.
- Follow the daily menu provided by the Director, including applicable USDA, licensing, and health department regulations.
- Maintain inventory of food and supplies and order more when needed.
- Assist in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater when needed.
