About The Position

The Child Care Cook, also referred to as the Food Specialist, is responsible for overall food preparation for the school’s enrolled children. The role involves adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The cook creates home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements. The position also involves preparing meals and snacks for children and staff, distributing food to classrooms, maintaining food and supply inventory, and ordering supplies when needed. The cook may assist in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater when needed.

• Flexibility as to the hours and schedule of work.

Nice To Haves

• Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create home-style, nutritional meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements.
• Prepare meals and snacks for children and staff and distribute food to classrooms.
• Follow the daily menu provided by the Director, incorporating USDA, licensing, and/or health department regulations.
• Maintain inventory of food and supplies and order more when needed.
• Assist in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher/Floater.
• Adapt to menu changes and meet meal and snack schedules.
