About The Position

The Child Care Cook, also referred to as the Food Specialist, is responsible for overall food preparation for the school’s enrolled children. The role requires adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The cook creates home-style, nutritional meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and applicable state and federal requirements, prepares meals and snacks for children and staff, and distributes food to classrooms. The role also maintains food and supply inventory and assists in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher/Floater.

• Flexibility with work hours and schedule.

Nice To Haves

• Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility.

Responsibilities

• Create home-style, nutritional meal plans within the school's menu, budget, and applicable state and federal requirements.
• Prepare meals and snacks for children and staff, and distribute food to classrooms.
• Follow the daily menu provided by the Director, incorporating USDA, licensing, and/or health department regulations.
• Maintain an inventory of food and supplies and order more when needed.
• Adapt to menu changes and meet meal and snack schedules.
• Assist in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher/Floater.
