Chief Revenue Officer

The Real Deal•New York City, NY

About The Position

The Real Deal is seeking an entrepreneurial and strategic Chief Revenue Officer whose primary mandate is to identify, develop, and scale new lines of revenue across the business. This is not a traditional CRO role focused primarily on day-to-day management of an existing sales team. The CRO will provide strategic oversight and work with sales leadership to optimize sales structure, market coverage, performance, and revenue opportunities, while focusing primarily on developing new revenue streams. The role will leverage The Real Deal’s brand, audience, content, data, events, products, and industry relationships to uncover commercial opportunities and turn them into meaningful, scalable, sustainable businesses. The CRO will work closely with the President and Head of Sales to ensure the company has the appropriate commercial structure, positioning, marketing support, and incentives to monetize its growing product portfolio. The role owns the strategic roadmap for revenue diversification and long-term commercial growth, and collaborates with executive leadership on company strategy and expansion opportunities. The position is hybrid and requires a presence in New York City. The stated salary range is $250,000–$300,000 per year.

Requirements

  • Significant senior leadership experience in revenue growth, business development, partnerships, product commercialization, or related functions.
  • Demonstrated track record of creating and scaling new revenue streams, rather than simply managing an established sales organization.
  • Strong commercial instincts and ability to identify opportunities and turn ideas into executable businesses.
  • Experience developing strategic partnerships, licensing, syndication, or other alternative revenue models.
  • Strong understanding of product positioning, pricing, go-to-market strategy, and sales enablement.
  • Ability to work across Sales, Marketing, Product, Editorial, Events, and executive leadership.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including the ability to assess market opportunities and build business cases.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving organization.
  • Ability to maintain a presence in New York City for this hybrid position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with media, information services, data, marketplaces, real estate, technology, or adjacent industries is strongly preferred.

  • Evaluate sales specialization by product, subject matter, client segment, and geography to maximize revenue across the company’s portfolio.
  • Identify gaps in commercial capabilities and recommend solutions.
  • Work with Marketing, Product, and Sales to establish clear value propositions and market positioning for commercial products.
  • Ensure sales teams have presentations, collateral, case studies, audience data, and other tools to sell products effectively.
  • Translate new products and capabilities into clear, compelling commercial offerings.
  • Own the strategic roadmap for revenue diversification and long-term commercial growth.
  • Establish KPIs and evaluate the performance and scalability of new revenue initiatives.
