Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) seeks an experienced leader to serve as Chief of the Psychiatry Service in its Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The Chief will advance the service as a national and international model for developing, delivering, and disseminating evidence-based psychiatric and psychological care for people with cancer. Founded in 1979, the Psychiatry Service was the first service dedicated to mental health care for individuals with cancer. Its multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, and advanced practice providers provides comprehensive psychiatric assessment and management across MSK’s Manhattan and regional locations. The service handles approximately 2,000 inpatient consultations and more than 7,000 new ambulatory referrals annually. As MSK expands services at regional campuses and opens a new inpatient hospital, the Chief will champion innovative clinical approaches, support clinical research and translate scientific advances into patient care, and develop a collaborative team that leads, teaches, and mentors. The role includes oversight of clinical training programs, including an ACGME-accredited consultation-liaison psychiatry fellowship. Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, the Chief will have strategic, research, clinical, and operational oversight of the Psychiatry Service. Responsibilities include setting priorities for clinical excellence, integrating breakthroughs into care, developing the research portfolio, acquiring talent, mentoring faculty, and collaborating closely with MSK clinical and research programs.
