About The Position

The Chief Program Officer (CPO) is a member of Greenwich House’s executive leadership team and has executive accountability for the performance, quality, financial sustainability, and strategic direction of all programs operated by Greenwich House and its two affiliates. In partnership with the Chief Executive Officer and other executive colleagues, the CPO ensures programs advance the organization’s mission, meet contractual and regulatory obligations, use resources responsibly, and deliver meaningful outcomes for the communities they serve. The CPO directly supervises and develops three vice presidents who lead the organization’s program portfolios: Health Services; Human Services; and Youth, Arts, and Education. The role calls for a strategic, financially astute leader who builds strong leadership teams, encourages collaboration across programs and administrative functions, and balances high expectations with compassion, flexibility, and respect. As an executive team member, the CPO shares responsibility for the overall success of Greenwich House and its affiliates. The CPO is expected to prioritize organizational success over individual departmental interests and model a collaborative approach grounded in mutual trust, respect, transparency, open dialogue, and constructive debate. The position represents Greenwich House with trustees, government officials, funders, community partners, and the public, and may serve as a spokesperson on programmatic matters. Greenwich House is a nonprofit founded in 1902 that provides programs in health, human services, education, and the arts to communities across New York City. The position is based at 623 Broadway, New York, NY 10012. The schedule is 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This is a full-time, exempt, non-union position reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.
