About The Position

The Chief Product Owner, Global Operations, is a member of the Global Operations leadership team within the Infrastructure Platform. The role leads product strategy across Client Operations, Fund Services, Investment Operations, and Private Operations, translating firm strategy and operating-model priorities into capabilities that support Wellington’s operations and enable the Investment and Client Platforms to serve clients effectively. The CPO owns the Operations product roadmap, cross-product prioritization and sequencing, capacity allocation, and measurable business outcomes. The role balances transformational change with business-critical services, sets a shared agenda for Operations Product Owners, and resolves prioritization conflicts they cannot settle. The CPO partners with business stakeholders, the Platform CIO, and technology leaders to align capabilities with future-state workflows, the Global Operations target operating model, and the platform’s technical vision. Technology partners remain accountable for solution design, engineering, support, and sustainability. As a peer to the Investment and Client Platform CPOs, the CPO represents Operations’ priorities and constraints in cross-platform decisions. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep expertise in product management, agile ways of working, and applied AI. The CPO partners with business leaders to reimagine Operations workflows in an AI-native model.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in product management or product ownership roles.
  • Experience managing a team of Product Owners or product leaders.
  • Demonstrated track record of using AI to reimagine an operations, servicing, or middle/back-office function and measurably improve business outcomes.
  • Deep experience with agile and scaled-agile ways of working, such as SAFe or equivalent, and the credibility to coach and correct Product Owners.
  • Experience translating firm strategy and target operating-model priorities into a multi-year product roadmap spanning multiple operational domains.
  • Experience balancing measurable change outcomes with high-volume, SLA-driven business-critical services and competing claims on capacity.
  • Proven ability to contribute to a senior business leadership team and partner as a peer with Investment and Client Platform product or business leaders.
  • Ability to align business priorities with a Platform CIO’s technical vision and delivery approach without formal authority over their organizations.
  • Comfort articulating investment cases in terms of additive versus run-the-business budget impact and explaining prioritization decisions to leadership and governance audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Financial services or asset management operations experience is strongly preferred.
  • Direct familiarity with derivatives, fund administration, guideline compliance, investment accounting, performance and attribution, or trade settlement is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the Global Operations product vision and own a multi-year product strategy and roadmap across Investment Operations, Client Operations, Fund Services, and Private Operations.
  • Define measurable outcomes for Operations products and hold Product Owners accountable for business outcomes and service levels, including operating leverage, error rates, break resolution time, and time to onboard.
  • Own the investment case for Operations technology, distinguishing spending that enables new business outcomes from spending that protects run-the-business capacity, and represent the strategy, headcount, and application footprint in governance and budget forums.
  • Lead the redesign of Operations workflows in an AI-native model, starting with high-volume or error-prone processes such as reconciliation, exception resolution, corporate actions, and guideline monitoring.
  • Partner with the Enterprise AI program and Infrastructure Platform CIO to identify and sequence agentic or AI-assisted capabilities, and establish AI-first as the default posture for new build.
  • Directly manage, coach, evaluate, and develop Operations Product Owners; establish shared standards for backlog quality, prioritization, and outcome definition.
  • Hold Product Owners accountable for product vision, backlog, sequencing, and committed business outcomes; resolve conflicts they cannot settle and partner with technology leaders on delivery.
  • Represent Operations in the Cross-Platform CPO Forum, resolving priority conflicts and dependencies with Investment and Client Platforms.
  • Partner with Global Operations leaders, division heads, and senior Investment and Client Platform stakeholders to align capabilities with business priorities, future-state workflows, and client needs.
  • Own Operations’ side of committed cross-platform and non-discretionary initiatives, negotiating scope and sequencing across affected products.
  • Develop internal communications and a change narrative for the Operations product model, addressing stakeholder questions about job security, reporting lines, and capacity.
  • Partner with the Infrastructure Platform CIO and Chief Architect to align product capabilities, workflows, and roadmap priorities with the platform’s technical vision and delivery approach.
  • Set investment priorities and allocate capacity across Operations products in partnership with the CIO organization supporting roughly 200+ FTE/FTC technology resources.
  • Balance change delivery with business-critical services and participate in PI planning and enterprise governance as Operations’ business-accountable voice.
  • Steward product management and agile practices in Operations, coaching Product Owners and stakeholders on business accountability for outcomes versus delivery management.
  • Align product and agile practices with the Global Operations target operating model, using protected run-the-business capacity, PI planning, and cross-product escalation paths as appropriate.
  • Establish and defend capability contracts governing how Operations products serve requests from other products and platforms.
