About The Position

Professional, administrative and supervisory work assisting the Chief Operations Manager in directing and coordinating the activities of one or more comprehensive components or functions of the Chief Administrative Office Benefits Administration Division; and related work as required. This division maintains group policies for life insurance, healthcare, and voluntary products. It is critical that services, product offerings, and end of life benefits be sustained. Our overall goal is to uphold policy and federal guidelines.

Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Permanent status with the City of New Orleans in a class of work having a pay grade equal to or higher than Management Development Specialist II (pay grade 77).
Three (3) years of responsible professional administrative experience which must have included at least one (1) year of assisting a Chief Operations Manager or a supervisor having a pay grade equal to or higher than 90 in carrying out a wide range of municipal administrative programs and projects.
Four (4) years of responsible professional administrative experience in a centralized human resources division.
This experience must have been at an exempt (salaried) level and must have included the planning and administration of an employee group benefits program (for example, health insurance, life insurance, and/or flexible spending plans).
At least one (1) year of this experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.
Professional experience is considered experience gained in a position that required a Bachelor's Degree upon entrance.
Applicants will not receive credit for unpaid work unless specified on the job announcement.
Partial credit only will be given for related part time employment.
Applicants who are licensed to drive should have a current license on their person for purposes of identification during all phases of an examination.
In lieu of such license, the Department of City Civil Service may require that applicants have some form of picture identification.
