About The Position

The Chief Operating and Trust Officer will operationalize Circle National Trust and serve as a principal resource to Circle Group’s executive leadership team and the Circle National Trust Board of Directors. The role has chief responsibility for the trust entity’s operations, compliance, and performance. It oversees day-to-day operations, develops and executes the business plan, ensures appropriate operating resources, and coordinates with senior executives and Circle Group functions to support cohesive and efficient operations. The officer is responsible for compliance and corporate governance systems, including compliance with requirements applicable to custody and other fiduciary activities. The role promotes a strong compliance and governance culture, ensures timely escalation and mitigation of risks, and establishes a centralized process for regulatory engagement and communication tracking. It also supports audits and examinations and coordinates remediation of findings. The officer ensures accounting, tax, treasury, HR, and operational matters receive appropriate management and resourcing, while identifying gaps and opportunities to build a long-term foundation for Circle National Trust. The position promotes critical discussion and effective communication across the organization.

Requirements

15+ years of relevant experience in general management, finance, operations, or a related discipline.
10+ years leading high-performing teams.
Detailed knowledge and experience implementing and managing a regulated business and ongoing operations in a financial services business.
Excellent ability to investigate, analyze, and interpret data and local and federal regulations.
Experience in a RegTech or Fintech company.
Ability to establish trust and collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders and team members.
Demonstrated understanding of and passion for digital currency, blockchain technology, and services built on it.
Embraces emerging technologies and identifies opportunities to use AI and automation to improve efficiency, decision-making, scalability, and quality of work.
Hands-on experience working with cross-functional leaders such as engineers, product managers, and data analysts to improve business processes.
Strong communication, planning, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations and business of Circle National Trust.
Represent Circle National Trust within Circle Group and externally.
Report key matters relating to Circle National Trust to Circle executive leadership and the Trust Board of Directors.
Develop and own the Circle National Trust business plan to maximize opportunities and ensure efficient, profitable operations.
Execute the business plan and strategies, coordinating with senior executives to support cohesive operations.
Ensure Circle National Trust has appropriate operating resources.
Maintain effective compliance and corporate governance systems and procedures, ensuring prudent and controlled operations in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Ensure compliance with applicable requirements, including those related to custody and other fiduciary activities.
Promote a strong compliance and governance culture; ensure issues are escalated, and risks are identified, discussed, and mitigated in a timely manner.
Develop a centralized process for engaging with regulators and tracking communications, actions, and outcomes.
Support audits and examinations by internal and external parties and work with program leads to remediate findings.
Ensure accounting, tax, treasury, HR, and operational matters are managed appropriately and that relevant Circle Group functions prioritize and resource them appropriately.
Identify potential gaps and implementation opportunities and work cross-functionally to build a long-term foundation for Circle National Trust.
Encourage critical discussions and challenge mindsets.
Promote effective communication between executive and non-executive employees.
