Chief of Staff

PicogridEl Segundo, CA

About The Position

Picogrid is a leading venture-backed defense technology company founded to bridge the decades-long gap between modern technology and the critical demands of national security. Today, we're building the essential infrastructure to unify sensors, autonomy, and operators with our technology deployed in active operations around the world. Our mission is to deliver an operational advantage to secure the United States and its allies. Role Overview We’re hiring a Chief of Staff to partner directly with our Co-Founder & Head of Growth to drive company-wide initiatives across sales and operations. You’ll sit at the center of the company’s most critical decisions and ensure the go-to-market organization scales without losing momentum. The ideal candidate thrives in high-pressure environments, excels at problem-solving and framing decisions from first principles, finds no task too big or small, and appreciates the importance of teamwork. This is an "operator" role designed for someone who can move seamlessly between high-level strategy and tactical field execution.

  • Exceptional analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive-level documents and briefings.
  • Proven ability to execute cross-functional projects under tight deadlines.
  • High discretion and sound judgment with sensitive information.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations around the world, staying co-located with your principal as required by the mission.
  • An entrepreneurial bias toward action—comfortable operating in ambiguity and building structure where none exists.

  • U.S. military experience in a high-pressure and impact role.
  • Experience in defense acquisition.
  • Current Top Secret clearance or greater.
  • Former founder or early employee at a venture-backed tech company.

  • Lead cross-functional projects requiring coordination between engineering, operations, and government stakeholders.
  • Fill short-term capacity gaps in program management, mission-critical scheduling, and business development (e.g., acting as the "0-to-1" lead when starting a new customer engagement).
  • Support executive decision-making through structured analysis, data-driven insights, and strong operational rigor.
  • Trial and iterate on new go-to-market strategies, building the systems that allow our sales team to scale.
  • Manage key communications—board materials, executive updates, proposals, and strategic documents.
