About The Position

The Chief of Staff and Strategic Operations Officer serves as a strategic partner to the Executive Director, helping translate organizational priorities into coordinated execution across the agency. This role provides leadership for strategic initiatives, cross functional projects, executive operations, organizational performance monitoring, and implementation of major organizational priorities. The position works collaboratively with executive leadership and program leaders to improve alignment, accountability, communication, and organizational effectiveness while supporting the successful launch and execution of strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Organizational Leadership, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in a nonprofit, healthcare, government, education, human services, or similarly complex organization.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex organizational initiatives and cross functional projects.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and implementation skills.
  • Ability to influence and build consensus without direct supervisory authority.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving abilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment when handling confidential information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other business productivity software.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the Executive Director to manage strategic priorities, executive initiatives, and organizational objectives.
  • Coordinate organization wide projects involving multiple departments and executive leaders.
  • Facilitate implementation of strategic initiatives from planning through execution.
  • Develop and maintain executive dashboards, project trackers, reports, and other tools that monitor organizational performance and progress.
  • Coordinate executive leadership meetings by preparing agendas, documenting decisions, tracking action items, and ensuring follow through.
  • Identify barriers to implementation and work collaboratively with leadership to develop solutions.
  • Support planning and implementation of new programs, grant funded initiatives, and organizational growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Fiscal, Human Resources, Advancement, IT, Facilities, Data, and Program leadership to coordinate cross functional work.
  • Monitor progress on organizational priorities and provide regular updates to the Executive Director and executive leadership team.
  • Serve as a confidential advisor on organizational operations, implementation strategies, and executive priorities.
  • Foster collaboration, accountability, and communication across departments.
