About The Position

The Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Florida is committed to delivering the highest quality primary and consultative care to a diverse patient population while advancing the field through scholarship, innovation, and education. The Division serves as a cornerstone of the Department of Medicine, providing comprehensive ambulatory care, supporting a broad range of trainees, and advancing research in health services, population health, quality improvement, and chronic disease management. GIM supports a robust training environment, including residency education in internal medicine, clerkship education for medical students, and opportunities for faculty to develop clinical, educational, and research careers in an academically rigorous setting. The Chief will oversee divisional clinical, educational, research, and administrative programs while leading continued growth and innovation across the Division's missions and advancing excellence in patient care, scholarship, and faculty development.

Requirements

  • A distinguished record of accomplishment and leadership in academic general internal medicine.
  • Evidence of excellence in clinical care, scholarship, education and program development.
  • A reputation for successfully building and leading programs that align with institutional priorities and advance innovation in healthcare delivery, population health, and academic medicine.
  • A track record of strategic leadership, team building, and collaboration with multidisciplinary partners to achieve excellence in quality, safety, patient experience, access, and operational performance.
  • Expertise in faculty development, mentorship, sponsorship, promotion, and fostering a culture of professionalism, collaboration, wellness, and accountability.
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring faculty, residents, and students, supporting academic advancement and development of future leaders.
  • Experience managing complex academic, clinical, and administrative operations, including financial stewardship, resource management, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • A commitment to advancing scholarly productivity, including support for clinical, educational, health services, implementation science, population health, and externally funded research programs.
  • Strategic vision to advance the Division's local, regional, and national reputation through excellence in clinical care, education, research, community engagement, health equity, and value-based care.
