About The Position

Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt, a New York City-based full-service commercial law firm with approximately 70 attorneys, is seeking a visionary Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer (CMBDO). The CMBDO will serve as a strategic partner and leader, overseeing the firm’s marketing, business development, branding, and communications department. The CMBDO will develop, execute, and measure strategic initiatives focused on enhancing client relationships and increasing the firm’s visibility in target markets.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, business development, or related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of business development and marketing experience.
  • Experience in a professional services environment is highly desirable.
  • A forward-thinking, collaborative leader who combines strategic vision with strong execution capabilities.
  • A sophisticated understanding of the evolving legal and professional services landscape, including emerging technologies and the growing impact of AI on marketing, client engagement, and business development.

Responsibilities

  • Build, inspire, and lead a high-performing marketing and business development team, fostering a culture of confidence, innovation, and accountability.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor and visionary to firm leadership and the Managing Partner, collaborating closely with practice group leaders to align and integrate marketing and business development initiatives with the firm’s overarching strategic objectives, driving growth and strengthening market presence and brand visibility.
  • Bring best practices and a forward-thinking approach to identifying new business opportunities and translating ideas into actionable strategies.
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives that deliver clear, measurable results and demonstrable impact.
  • Partner with attorneys to develop and execute tailored business development and marketing plans that enhance personal visibility, deepen client relationships, and support both individual and firmwide growth objectives.
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of KPIs and ROI measurement, with the ability to develop, manage, and operate within defined budgets.
