KUNGFU.AI is a leading AI-native consulting firm that partners with ambitious organizations through multi-year transformation cycles to help them compete and lead in the age of AI. Their work spans AI strategy, applied machine learning and engineering, and the operationalization of AI into real products, processes, and decision systems. They design and build production-grade AI systems that drive measurable business outcomes, combining deep technical expertise with pragmatic consulting discipline. They are seeking a bold, market-shaping Chief Marketing Officer to define how the company is understood, experienced, and remembered within the rapidly evolving AI landscape. This is not a traditional B2B marketing leadership role; they seek a creative and strategic storyteller and seasoned marketer who can turn complex technical capabilities into compelling narratives, shape industry conversations, and build a brand that stands apart. The CMO will play a central role in defining the future-facing narrative by elevating the company's voice, positioning it as a category-defining player, and creating stories, campaigns, and thought leadership to establish credibility and momentum. This role will partner closely with the CEO and leadership team to build marketing into a core strategic function driving market perception, enterprise demand, and long-term growth. While strategic, the role requires a hands-on operator mindset, comfortable shaping long-term market narratives and executing in real time. It's an opportunity to play a role in both strategic vision and execution craft.

Requirements

  • Proven experience and a portfolio that shows you’ve built distinctive brands, shaped narratives, and created marketing that cuts through crowded markets.
  • Exceptional storytelling instincts with the ability to turn technical or complex concepts into clear, compelling, and differentiated market narratives.
  • Experience developing category-defining positioning, thought leadership platforms, and “big idea” campaigns.
  • Strong creative judgment across messaging, content, campaigns, brand strategy, and executive communications.
  • Demonstrated success positioning organizations as industry leaders through strategic storytelling and market influence.
  • Deep understanding of the AI, technology, or innovation ecosystem and the ability to anticipate where the market is heading.
  • Experience engaging with analysts, media, strategic partners, and executive audiences.
  • Comfort operating as a highly visible external representative of the business.
  • Deep understanding of consulting and professional services economics, including how to translate intellectual capital, technical expertise, and thought leadership into commercial growth and market differentiation.
  • Experience leading marketing within high-growth, founder-led professional services, consulting, technology, or AI organizations where brand reputation, expertise, and relationships are core drivers of growth.
  • Proven ability to operate as both a strategic executive and hands-on builder — shaping long-term market positioning while driving execution in fast-moving, entrepreneurial environments.
  • Strong executive presence with experience partnering closely with CEOs, Boards, and senior leadership teams to influence company strategy, market perception, and business growth.
  • Demonstrated success in category positioning, and reputation-based marketing strategies that elevate credibility, creating demand, and establishing market leadership.
  • Strong track record of driving measurable business growth through integrated marketing strategies.
  • Experience leading demand generation, digital marketing, go-to-market strategy, and enterprise pipeline development.
  • Ability to balance long-term brand building with near-term revenue impact and operational accountability.
  • Experience managing significant marketing budgets, teams, and campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Narrative and Shape Market Perception: Build a differentiated and emotionally resonant brand narrative that establishes the company as a category-defining leader. Define and evolve the company’s positioning within the AI ecosystem. Translate complex AI capabilities, technical innovation, and client impact into compelling stories that resonate with enterprise decision-makers. Lead the creation of market-facing messaging that is clear, provocative, memorable, and commercially effective.
  • Drive Category Creation and Thought Leadership: Shape industry conversations around the future of AI, enterprise transformation, and emerging technology adoption. Build a visible and influential market presence through executive thought leadership, media engagement, analyst relations, speaking opportunities, and strategic content. Identify where the AI market is heading and position the company ahead of those shifts. Develop “big ideas” and signature narratives that elevate awareness, credibility, and relevance at scale.
  • Lead Creative Strategy and Storytelling Excellence: Oversee the development of high-impact creative campaigns, brand initiatives, content strategies, and digital experiences. Ensure every external touchpoint reflects a sophisticated, differentiated, and strategically aligned brand voice. Bring together technical expertise, customer success stories, market insight, and cultural relevance into a cohesive and compelling narrative ecosystem. Build marketing that people remember.
  • Build Marketing as a Commercial Growth Engine: Lead integrated marketing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, pipeline generation, and revenue growth. Partner closely with sales and executive leadership to connect brand strategy with commercial outcomes. Develop measurable marketing frameworks, KPIs, and OKRs tied to business growth and market impact. Oversee demand generation, digital marketing, campaigns, customer acquisition strategies and sales enablement with strong accountability for performance.
  • Build and Inspire a High-Performing Team: Mentor and develop a world-class marketing organization with strong creative, strategic, and operational capabilities. Foster a culture of ambition, curiosity, creativity, and excellence. Lead cross-functional collaboration across leadership, sales, delivery, and operations teams.
