About The Position

A growing, multi-location healthcare organization is seeking a hands-on CFO to own financial operations and serve as a strategic partner to leadership. This is an involved leadership role focused on more than reporting and accounting oversight: the CFO will independently investigate complex financial questions, assess competing advice, identify opportunities to improve performance, and make well-supported recommendations. The role calls for strong financial expertise, intellectual curiosity, business judgment, and a sense of ownership. The position is based in Lakewood, New Jersey, is on-site, and offers hybrid flexibility.

Requirements

  • Strong financial leadership experience as a CFO, Controller, VP of Finance, or in a similar senior-level role.
  • Exceptional analytical ability, independent thinking, and strong financial judgment.
  • Deep understanding of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and tax-related matters.
  • Ability to engage with senior CPAs and financial professionals, evaluate their recommendations, and challenge conclusions through informed analysis.
  • Track record of identifying financial opportunities and driving measurable improvements in profitability.
  • Resourcefulness, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to investigate issues thoroughly.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to connect financial decisions to operational outcomes.
  • Hands-on, proactive leadership and willingness to take ownership.
  • Collaborative and approachable, with comfort working closely with ownership and department leaders.
  • Experience building stronger financial systems, controls, and processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare experience, particularly in insurance-based reimbursement environments, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ABA or multi-location healthcare services is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of financial operations, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and overall financial performance.
  • Research complex financial and tax-related questions, evaluate conflicting professional opinions, and develop well-supported recommendations.
  • Work directly with outside CPAs, tax advisors, and other financial experts, asking questions and challenging assumptions when appropriate.
  • Analyze profitability, identify trends, investigate discrepancies, and explain changes in margins.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce expenses, improve profitability, and strengthen the organization's financial position.
  • Develop financial projections and translate financial data into actionable business decisions.
  • Oversee billing, collections, and revenue cycle performance, ensuring accountability and follow-through.
  • Monitor cash flow, spending, and financial obligations.
  • Establish budgets and financial controls across multiple locations and departments.
  • Strengthen financial reporting, expense management, and internal processes.
  • Oversee bookkeeping and coordinate tax planning and related financial matters.
  • Collaborate with operations and HR leadership to improve staffing costs, operational efficiency, and financial performance.
  • Contribute to strategic decisions as a member of the executive leadership team.
