About The Position

The Chicken Catcher catches a specified number of birds and uses proper placement techniques to load them into cages. The role is responsible for following animal welfare guidelines and counting the birds loaded into each cage. Team members wear required personal protective equipment, stretch before starting daily duties, walk the poultry house, and load birds by hand until each cage is full. The position is with Pilgrim’s hourly production team.

Responsibilities

• Follow animal welfare guidelines.
• Count the birds loaded into cages.
• Acquire and wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and a safety vest; gloves and arm sleeves are optional.
• Perform routine stretches before beginning daily duties.
• Walk the house and bed the birds.
• Wait for a cage to be set on blocks and open its door.
• Catch the correct number of birds and load them into the cage one hand at a time.
• Repeat the catching and loading process until the cage is full, then shut the cage door.
