About The Position

This posting is for an applicant pool for affiliate faculty in Chicana/o Studies. Screening of applicants will occur when positions become available. These are temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions, and the number varies by semester based on program needs. Not all applicants will be contacted or selected to teach. Metropolitan State University (MSU Denver), established in 1965, serves over 16,000 diverse students, many of whom are underrepresented, first-generation, and from multicultural backgrounds. The Department of Chicana/o Studies is seeking part-time affiliate faculty to teach courses such as CHS1000 Introduction to Chicano Studies and other lower and upper division courses. Courses can be delivered in-person, online, or in hybrid formats.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Chicana/o Studies or closely related field.
Some experience teaching at the College/University level.
Ability to teach in person/on campus upon hire.

Nice To Haves

Ph.D. in Chicano studies or a related field.
3 or more years of teaching experience at the College/University Level.

Responsibilities

Teach one or more courses during the day, evening and/or weekend as necessary.
Deliver course content to students in assigned classes, in person or online.
Prepare course materials and lesson plans.
Grade student work and provide timely, robust feedback.
Address student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
Provide online or in-person academic support to students as needed and appropriate.
Provide instruction consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and department coordination policies.
Comply with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
Adapt and learn new modes of instruction.
Be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
