About The Position
We are seeking a Chess After School Instructor to lead engaging chess classes for students in grades K-6. This role involves teaching chess fundamentals and strategies in a fun and supportive environment. Classes are held weekly on Wednesdays from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Kuykendall Rd, Charlotte, NC 28270.
Requirements
- Proficiency in chess, including rules, basic strategy, and common openings.
- Experience working with children, preferably in an educational or recreational setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage a classroom of K-6th grade students.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Must be able to commit to the specified class schedule.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience teaching chess.
- Experience with after-school programs.
- Knowledge of child development.
Responsibilities
- Instruct students in chess fundamentals and strategies.
- Manage classroom behavior and ensure a positive learning environment.
- Adapt teaching methods to suit different age groups and skill levels (K-6th grade).
- Communicate with program coordinators regarding class progress and any issues.
- Arrive on time for all scheduled classes.
