About The Position

Blair Rubber Co. is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer Co-Op for Spring 2027. This full-time, paid internship offers hands-on experience in manufacturing high-quality roofing materials and rubber linings. The co-op will work with the operations team to identify and implement safety and production improvements, create work instructions, perform job hazard analyses, and assist in ensuring site compliance with corporate process standards. The role involves working in an office environment with limited exposure to the production floor, which utilizes various chemicals and industrial machinery.

Requirements

  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior specializing in a Chemical Engineering program.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering projects utilizing sound design principles.
  • Work with the operations team to identify and implement safety and production CI initiatives.
  • Create work instructions and perform job hazard analyses for areas on the production floor.
  • Participate in safety improvements for all equipment and continuous quality improvements for processes.
  • Create layouts and process diagrams to support standardization and CI.
  • Identify hazards by analyzing jobs and their associated tasks.
  • Assist in ensuring the site complies with corporate process standards, including preparation for the annual corporate process audit and follow-up on all issues raised.
  • Identify potential areas of product improvement; recommend and assist with the development of appropriate solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
