CHEF (FULL TIME)
About The Position
Chartwells K12 is hiring a full-time Chef at East Pennsboro Area School District in Enola, Pennsylvania. The Chef directs, coordinates, and evaluates kitchen, food production, and food-service associates. The role supervises and participates in food preparation, cooking, and service, and ensures food-handling, sanitation, and customer-service standards are met. The position also involves preparing high-quality food to standardized recipes, maintaining food quality and presentation, managing inventory, and maintaining clean and sanitary work areas. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The advertised pay range is $15.00 to $23.00 per hour. The position offers no nights, weekends, or holidays, and summers off; however, the posting notes that work may be unpaid during school breaks when services are not needed, and business needs may sometimes require year-round work at another location.
Requirements
- Prior food service experience.
- Prior supervisory experience.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and participate in the work of cooks and other associates preparing, cooking, and serving food.
- Ensure food-handling, sanitation, and customer-service standards are met.
- Supervise hourly kitchen associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action.
- Prepare high-quality food according to standardized recipes and meet production, delivery, and service schedules.
- Serve meals or prepare meals for delivery.
- Ensure proper food presentation, quality, portion control, and serving temperatures.
- Track food use, waste, and consumption to requisition or purchase products.
- Receive and inspect products and supplies for quality and quantity and maintain appropriate inventory.
- Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils; clean the workstation before leaving and keep display equipment clean during meal service.
- Help select and develop recipes and menus.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
